Murals DC Community Outreach

Murals DC Community Outreach

This week Mazi, WBL’s executive director began community out reach as a part of the organization’s duty as Artistic Consultant for DC’s annual Murals DC program. Over the past month, WBL representatives have attended local ANC meetings for each of the proposed murals. There, they collected contact information for residents interested in giving insight towards the success of this project. This week, Mazi is bringing those folks together to discuss the wants of community members and choose the artist who will design each of the murals.

Get up and Do it Yourself:
Cipher Quarterly Workshop

On July 7th, 12noon-2pm Words Beats & Life is hosting 2011′s second quarterly Cipher Workshop.

This workshop will be facilitated by Candace J. Mickens, the Principal Consultant of Ubuntu Management Consulting. With more than 16 years of business management and accounting experience both in the for profit and not-for-profit sectors, she has developed an interactive workshop designed to help you learn and take charge of your project/program/organization’s finances.

She writes:

“Are you a small organization with limited staff? Do you have questions about how to prepare and monitor a budget for grant funders or to present to a board? If so, BUDGETS made SIMPLE is the workshop for you. Budgets made Simple is a hands on participatory discussion addressing common issues and questions facing workshop attendees on the topic of budgeting. This is not a lecture format. It is a lively discussion with a few practical exercises to test your knowledge.Whether you are a Executive Director, Program Manager, Board Member or Office Assistant your input is critical to making sure that you walk away with practical information that will contribute to your organizations success!”
