Angel C. Dye also known as DJ Dynasty is a poet from Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas by way of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is currently a senior at Howard University studying English with a concentration in Creative Writing. Angel’s poetry has appeared in Sixfold Journal and in Black Earth Institute’s About Place Journal. She has opened for NAACP Image Award winners Frank X Walker and Claudia Rankine, and her work has been awarded by the Middle Atlantic Writers Association and the College Language Association. Angel is devoted to writing poetry that questions the disparities and celebrates the victories in the communities that she represents. She is also deeply committed to exploring selfhood, blackness, womanhood, and spirituality in her work with hopes of approaching healing.


Maulani is 14 years old. Her interests include art and set design. She has been attending Words, Beats, & Life classes for the past year. Her interest in music started when she would see DJ’s use turntables, mixers, and drum pads. Once she realized she wanted to become a DJ she decided on the name DJ Lol E. Pop because it stands for Laugh Out Loud Entertainment Pop. She also enjoys taking part in the beat production classes and finds the music software very intriguing.
