Anaia Peddie is Program Manager for the Minnesota Avenue Main Street. She leads the Main Street Initiative and engages with small businesses concentrated on Minnesota Avenue NE and Benning Road NE to provide business technical assistance, marketing, and public space design activities. After working on community development and strategic planning initiatives for local government and national non-profit organizations, Anaia knows equitable development is grounded in an asset- based perspective about a community, its residents and its business owners.
Anaia worked across the public and private sectors to align resources for comprehensive business approaches and enhanced efficiency including NeighborWorks America, Office of the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety and Justice, and Amazon.
Anaia is certified in asset management by the Consortium for Housing and Asset Management (CHAM) and certified Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma. In addition to her background in community development, Anaia speaks Spanish and Portuguese and enjoys volunteering with United Way of the National Capital Area, the Abramson Memorial Scholarship Fund, and Black Swan Academy.
Anaia holds a BA in English Literature and Spanish Language & Linguistics from Spelman College.
