Shanna Lim is a visual and performing artist utilizing many forms of dance, street performance, and body art to express, provoke, and make aware of moral, local and world issues. She is known for her special attention to the historic roots of Hip-Hop and House Dance which lead her in master class studies under Don Cambellock, Boogaloos, Poppin Pete, Loose Joint from Elite Force, Rennie Harris, built House dance roots in DC and around Dance Fusion NY. She is cofounder of Hip Hop youth organization Midnight Forum, founder of Inner Soul Projex Productions started in 1996 geared to benefiting and creating society awareness of local and world-wide problems through the arts. Shanna is founder of “Thoughts in Glitter” body art as a DMV established body paint artist and has earned her degree in dance at University of Maryland. She is presently working on a degree in Original medicine at the International Institute of Medicine. She has taught dance throughout Maryland, Washington DC, New York, Costa Rica, performed in Hip Hop theater festivals, with Mason Rhynes, Holly Bass, Willi Dorner(Austria), Nita Liam (Netherlands), danced with Somapa Thai Dance Company and toured with Tamara Wellons of Ocha records. Cultural styles include Thai, Reggae, African, Modern and Contact Improvisation. Shanna has had short and long term training under Rennie Harris, Somapa, Pierson and Widrig dance theatre, Sylvia Soumah, Sharon Mansur, Eiko and Koma, and Naoko Maeshiba. She always infused herself in a vast array of artistic expressions to break up society’s everyday monotony all while bringing people together to encourage and inspire.
